What Is 2K1?
2K1 is the next evolution of adult radio focusing on pop hits of the millennial generation. In the past, gold based formats focused on the music from around two decades prior. In the 1980s, that meant 1960s oldies. In the 1990s, came the all 70s format, which was followed in the 2000s by the 1980s explosion. However, these stations have now decided to superserve the 35-54 demographic and have remained in the 80s, to great success. On the other end, Hot AC has become more current and recurrent based, causing many hit songs to disappear from radio playlists, despite immense familiarity and audience demand.
